Things to Do in North County San Diego This March

March 1: Flower Fields Opening | Carlsbad

Spring in North County doesn’t truly begin until the Flower Fields bloom. Opening March 1, this vibrant Carlsbad destination invites visitors to wander rows of 80 million ranunculus flowers, take tractor rides through the fields, and soak in one of Southern California’s most photographed spring spectacles.

March 7: SoCal Kpop Anime Fest | Vista

SoCal K-Pop & Anime Fest lands in Downtown Vista on March 7, bringing an afternoon of live performances, cosplay, fan art, themed vendors, and pop culture experiences for fans of K-pop, J-pop, anime, and beyond. The free, all-ages event runs from 3–8 PM and marks the first festival of its kind in San Diego County.

March 14-15: WSA Jetty March | Vista

The Western Surfing Association Oceanside Jetty March contest returns March 14–15, bringing two full days of competitive surf to one of North County’s most iconic breaks. From micro groms to longboard divisions and para surf categories, the event showcases talent across all ages and experience levels. Expect high-energy heats, community vibes, and plenty of action at the Oceanside Jetty as surfers compete for podium spots.

March 15: Fields of Luck 5K | Carlsbad

Carlsbad’s Flower Fields are debuting the Fields of Luck 5K on Sunday, March 15, offering runners and walkers early access to the iconic blooms before the grounds open to the public. Timed for St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the limited-entry race winds through rows of ranunculus in peak color, blending movement, scenery, and springtime energy. Registration includes post-race admission, so participants can linger and take in the fields at their own pace.

March 15: Moonlight Beach Half Marathon + 5K | Encinitas

The Moonlight Beach Half Marathon & 10K returns to Encinitas on Sunday, March 15, pairing oceanfront miles with festive St. Patrick’s Day energy. Runners can expect sunrise coastal views, chip timing, finisher swag, and even cash prizes for top finishers and best costumes. Whether you’re racing for time or just for fun, it’s one of North County’s most scenic ways to log your miles.

March 21: Walk for Animals | Escondido

Join the Walk for Animals – North County on Saturday, March 21 at Kit Carson Park in Escondido, a feel-good community event supporting the San Diego Humane Society’s lifesaving work for more than 40,000 animals each year. Participants can walk, fundraise, and connect with fellow animal lovers while helping provide care, shelter, and resources for pets and families across San Diego County. Early registration is encouraged for discounted pricing and event perks.

March 21-22: Julian Daffodil Show | Julian

The Julian Daffodil Show returns March 21–22, bringing a burst of spring color to the mountain town with more than a thousand daffodil blooms on display at Julian Town Hall. This free, family-friendly tradition pairs floral exhibits with expert tips from daffodil specialists and a charming student art showcase inspired by the season.
