Carlsbad’s Flower Fields to Host First Field of Luck 5K on St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

Carlsbad’s iconic spring landscape is adding a new way to experience the season. On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Fields of Luck 5K will debut as a limited-entry race set entirely inside The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, offering runners and walkers early access to one of North County’s most recognizable spring destinations.

Timed for St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the event invites participants of all paces to move through acres of ranunculus in bloom before the venue opens to the public — turning a familiar spring ritual into a uniquely active experience.

Early Access Through the Blooms

If you’ve visited The Flower Fields during peak season, you know the draw: vibrant rows of color, coastal breezes, and expansive views toward the Pacific. Race participants will enter the Fields ahead of public hours, navigating a 5K course that winds through the flower-lined paths while the grounds are still quiet.

The course is designed for both runners and walkers, making it approachable whether you’re aiming for a personal time or simply taking in the scenery alongside friends and family.

A Festive Spin on St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

Green attire and festive flair are encouraged, leaning into the St. Patrick’s Day timing without turning the event into a novelty race. The emphasis remains on movement, community, and place — celebrating the arrival of spring in a setting that’s typically experienced at a slower pace.

Following the race, participants can stay and explore The Flower Fields, with post-race admission included as part of registration.

Race Perks

Registration includes race entry, access to the 5k course through the blooms, admission to The Flower Fields post-race, a commemorative race t-shirt, and a finisher medal. Family/group discounts are also available by request.
