Dia de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, celebrations will be all over North County as the cities of Carlsbad, Escondido, Oceanside, and Encinitas, among others. The traditional holiday is celebrated on November 1 and 2, but the celebrations will begin much earlier in North County.
As a bit of background, the Day of the Dead is a different celebration than Halloween. The latter was more about witches and ghosts, while Dia de Los Muertos is about remembrance and originated from the ancient pre-Hispanic Mesoamericans.
