Jeffrey Schade, the new owner of the iconic Leucadia Cyclery on Vulcan Avenue, is steadfast in keeping the store location after facing relocation. After acquiring the company in November, Schade was informed that the lease may not be extended, primarily because the insurance company refused to cover the old brick construction.
Schade intended to grow the repair shop by opening another three service bays. Although the plan won’t push through anytime soon, Schade’s team is looking into relocating the business or making changes to meet the insurer’s requirements.

Whatever the move is going forward, Schade plans to continue Leucadia Cyclery’s legacy. The bicycle shop was founded in 1974 and has served Encinitas’ cycling enthusiasts for nearly 50 years.
Leucadia Cyclery serves its patrons seven days a week. They are open from 10 AM to 6 PM from Monday to Saturday, and 12 PM to 4 PM on Sundays. The store’s last day at 823 Vulcan Avenue is still to be determined, but you can call them at 760-436-2786 or visit their website for more information.
