The Tidewater Tavern Bar & Grill will close its doors after nearly three decades of operation. The official closure announcement happened on owner Sam Lunde’s 60th birthday celebration, saying it’s time to move on.
The sports bar has held a special place in the Solana Beach neighborhood. Its menu includes wings, calamari tacos, beer, burgers, and the World’s Best Mai Tai. People also flock to the Tidewater to shoot pool, watch their favorite sports teams, and belt a song in Karaoke hour.
Lunde grew up in the restaurant business, having his first gig as a dishwasher at 11. He purchased a Chinese restaurant place along Coast Highway 101 in 1994, which he later transformed to become the Tavern Barn & Grill. After the closure, Lunde said the premises will become a pizza place.
Even though Tidewater’s journey has officially come to a close, loyal patrons can still reminisce about the good times by looking at its official Instagram page and website.
