Carlsbad has a flavorful new addition: Manka Peruvian Cuisine officially opened its doors on June 6th at 3055 Harding Street, taking over the former home of Pollos Maria. The restaurant is the latest project from seasoned restaurateur Jorge Wong, who also owns two popular Peruvian restaurants in Los Angeles. After purchasing the property in early 2023, Wong spent over a year transforming the space into a refined yet inviting destination for authentic Peruvian cuisine.

At the helm of the kitchen is Executive Chef Julio Arias, whose culinary vision brings together traditional Peruvian flavors and modern techniques. Under his guidance, the menu showcases bold, fresh dishes — think traditional ceviche, octopus ceviche with olive sauce, lomo saltado, and two standout rice dishes: arroz con mariscos and arroz con pata. Guests can also expect expertly prepared anticuchos: marinated meat skewers served with a spicy sauce made from native Peruvian peppers — to accompany a thoughtfully curated selection of seafood, meats, and pasta dishes.
To round out the experience, Manka offers a thoughtful selection of beer, wine, and classic cocktails like the signature Pisco Sour. The atmosphere is both elegant and inviting — ideal for a romantic date night or a special dinner with friends. Expect attentive service, beautifully plated dishes, and a menu rooted in tradition, crafted with care.
