Carlsbad’s hotel scene is preparing for a major transformation. In Spring 2026, the former Sheraton Carlsbad will reopen as Hotel Solea, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The multi-million-dollar reimagining promises to deliver a design-forward, boutique-inspired experience that feels both coastal and cosmopolitan—an elevated addition to North County’s luxury stays.
Hotel Solea will feature 201 redesigned rooms and suites, blending modern style with SoCal’s laid-back spirit. Inspired by Carlsbad’s natural beauty, the interiors aim for a balance of sophistication and eclectic character, with details that reflect the region’s sunny, coastal lifestyle. Sweeping views of the Pacific and nearby lagoons further set the stage for a stay that feels distinctly North County.

With 70,000 square feet of flexible event space, Hotel Solea is poised to become a hub for gatherings of all sizes. The property will include a partitionable 8,010-square-foot ballroom, more than 20 breakout rooms, and an expansive lawn with a terrace and atrium—perfect for everything from weddings to team-building retreats.

Location is key: Solea sits minutes from Carlsbad Village, pristine beaches, and the city’s famous Flower Fields. Guests will also enjoy private entry to LEGOLAND®, privileges at The Crossings at Carlsbad golf course, access to nearby hiking trails, and proximity to outlets, lagoons, and preserves that define Carlsbad’s unique sense of place.
Hotel Solea will share its hilltop campus with the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, giving visitors two distinct experiences within one destination: Solea’s design-forward energy paired with the Westin’s wellness-focused retreat.
When it opens in 2026, Hotel Solea is expected to draw leisure travelers, couples, and destination groups seeking a new take on coastal luxury in Carlsbad. It’s a project that marks both continuity and change: familiar ground reimagined into something fresh, with roots in Carlsbad’s enduring coastal allure.
