A new chapter begins in Oceanside as The Victorian at Hill Street softly opens its doors in one of the city’s original Victorian homes. Nestled at 524 S. Coast Highway, this lovingly restored 1888 landmark — originally the Wetzel Residence — has been transformed into a warm and welcoming dining destination with a fresh take on seasonal California cuisine.

From the team behind local favorites Pour House and Frankie’s, Emily and David Rassel have reimagined this storied “big yellow house” into a space where nostalgia meets modern coastal elegance. Guests will find themselves drawn in by the inviting double-tiered porch, the charm of original architectural features, and a menu that’s rooted in comfort, community, and a deep sense of place.
The restaurant is currently in its soft opening phase, with Golden Hour running from 3–4:30PM, featuring walk-in-only availability, limited drinks, and small bites—perfect for a casual catch-up on the sun-drenched porch.
Dinner reservations are available Wednesday through Sunday from 4–8:30PM, with limited seating ahead of the official Grand Opening on August 7th. The bar is open 3–9PM daily, also offering walk-in access.

Curated by Chef Juan Armando of Mesa Agricola, The Victorian’s menu is inspired by the vibrant, diverse flavors that shape California — coastal, rustic, and always seasonal. Think shared plates crafted from locally sourced, wholesome ingredients that feel both familiar and elevated. A forthcoming gourmet sandwich menu curated by Staci Miller of The Miller’s Table will bring an added layer of culinary charm.
Dining at The Victorian means settling into a space that’s as much about feeling as it is about flavor. With approximately 70 seats on its heated, multi-level porch, a cozy indoor dining room and bar, and a charming brick courtyard, every corner is curated with care — courtesy of Trippe Interiors — to make you feel like you’ve just stepped into your new favorite place.
Whether you’re a longtime local or new to town, The Victorian at Hill Street invites you to stay a while. To sip something thoughtfully made. To gather, savor, and make new memories in a space that feels like it’s always been yours.
